Kahikatea is the smaller of two camping grounds at Tōtara Reserve Regional Park, managed by Horizons Regional Council in the Manawatū-Whanganui region. Located across the road from the larger Kererū site, it offers powered and non-powered sites suitable for caravans and tents, with access to toilets, showers and barbecue facilities. The reserve protects accessible lowland forest in the Pohangina Valley, approximately 40 minutes' drive from Palmerston North. Note that Kahikatea campground has been closed until further notice due to flood damage; visitors should contact Horizons Regional Council on 021 242 1654 or email [email protected] to confirm current status and availability before planning a visit.
