Located on the western bank of the Pohangina River, it serves as a practical base for tramping into the Ruahine ranges or day walks including the nearby Kahikatea Walk and Totara Reserve Regional Park. The campsite features a grassy clearing, though campers should note the eastern boundary borders a high cliff requiring caution. Fires are not permitted at any time.
