Overview Boles Field is located in the northern portion of Sabine National Forest in eastern Texas, near the border of Louisiana. The area centers around a cemetery for fox hounds established at the turn of the century, and some of the world's most well-known hunting dogs are buried here. Camping Fee: $6; 14 days camping limit; up to 2 tents;8 people per site Recreation With the Toledo Bend Reservoir just six miles miles away, Boles Field offers an opportunity to visit one of the nation's most regarded freshwater fishing sites. The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas provide excellent opportunities for bird watching and wildlife viewing. East Texas lies in the path of warblers, vireos and other species of neotropical migrants, and birders look forward to the spring migration. Facilities Uniquely developed for large gatherings, Boles Field has an amphitheater which holds approximately 100 people and group shelter that accommodate family events. Both are for day-use only. Overview Mill Creek Park is a large, comfortable campground on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir, also known as Lake Sam Rayburn, tucked in the piney woods of southeast Texas. The lake and the surrounding Angelina National Forest, provide a welcoming home for bald eagles in winter. The rare red-cockaded woodpecker also resides in the forest here. Recreation Fishing at the reservoir is wildly popular, with frequent fishing tournaments. Catches include largemouth bass, crappie and catfish. Birding is also big, with chances to see warblers, vireos and other migratory songbirds. A resident population of wood ducks remains in the forest throughout the year. Facilities The park features 110 campsites with water and electric hookups. There's also a group shelter, boat ramp, designated swimming beach (open Apr-Sep), a playground, and volleyball court for family entertainment. Natural Features The campground is on the southeast shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The lake boasts over 114,000 surface acres, making it the largest man-made lake that's completely located in Texas. Nearby Attractions From the eastern edge of the lake, hikers can embark on a 28-mile trail that heads east to the Toledo Bend Reservoir.

Overview San Augustine Park is set along the Ayish Bayou tributary on the shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir. In spring, take advantage of excellent birding opportunities as neotropical birds like warblers and vireos pass through the lake en route to the Gulf of Mexico. Recreation The lake is a highly popular destination for boating and fishing. Game fish include largemouth bass, bluegill and channel catfish, but it is the abundance of bass, which inspires more than 500 annual tournaments. Facilities San Augustine features 100 sites with electric and water hook-ups. Among the many amenities are a group shelter, designated swim beach (open Apr-Sep), volleyball, boat ramp and an interpretive trail. Natural Features With more than 114,000 surface acres, Sam Rayburn is the largest man-made lake that is completely within the boundaries of the state of Texas. The reservoir is fed by the Angelina River, a major tributary of the Neches River. The piney woods region boasts native flora like orchids, insect-eating plants and scores of animal species. Nearby Attractions From the eastern edge of the lake, hikers can embark on a 28-mile trail that heads east to the Toledo Bend Reservoir.
