Overview Pine Meadows Campground is located on Cottage Grove Lake in Oregon's southern Willamette Valley. Recreation Cottage Grove Lake and its shoreline, set in the gently rolling hills of the Willamette Valley, are used for numerous outdoor activities both on land and on water. There are boat ramps at Lakeside Park and Wilson Creek Park nearby, giving visitors easy access to the lake for boating and fishing. Families can use the swim beach or picnic along the shore. The lake is also a designated stop along the Big River Loop of the Willamette Valley Birding Trail, a self-guided driving tour that includes 138 birding hotspots. Facilities The campground has nearly 100 sites that each offer fire rings and picnic tables, several of which are on the lake shore. Sites 1-92 are standard sites within the main campground at Pine Meadows. Other amenities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, children's play area and a swim area. Sites A - O are primitive sites with limited amenities on a loop adjacent to Pine Meadows Campground. Natural Features Located in the low foothills of the Calapooya Mountains, Pine Meadows is surrounded by a diverse mixture of marshland, coniferous forests, and grasslands. The area is managed to provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife species, including waterfowl, black-tailed deer, upland game birds, songbirds, bald eagles, osprey, and many other species. Visitors can see rare birds like the purple martin, the willow flycatcher, and the yellow-breasted chat in the lake area. Osprey and purple martins nest in nearby structures. Charges & Cancellations Reservation changes or cancellations can be made through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Cancelling/Changing a Reservation A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation. The $10.00 service fee will be deducted from the refund amount. Depending on when you cancel in relation to your arrival day, it may be considered a late cancellation (see below). Late Cancellations Individual Campsites: A customer who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee. Group Facility: Customers who cancel a group overnight facility reservation less than 14 days before the arrival date will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee. No-Shows A no-show customer is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until 2pm on the day following the scheduled arrival date. No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night’s recreation fee for a campsite. Early Departures If a customer departs prior to the scheduled check-out date, they may be eligible for a partial refund. Please notify staff at the facility if you depart early to allow others to use the site. Customers may notify the call center to request a refund of remaining unused nights. Overview Schwarz Campground is located below Dorena Lake in Oregon's Southern Willamette Valley. The campground is approximately five miles from the city of Cottage Grove. A variety of recreational opportunities are available, including fishing, boating, swimming and hiking. A number of historic covered bridges can also be found in the area. Recreation Dorena Lake is a great location for boating, water skiing, fishing and swimming. Nearby Baker Bay County Park offers a boat ramp and marina. The Row River Trail stretches 14 miles from downtown Cottage Grove, past the Dorena Dam and along the entire north side of the lake. This popular path is open tor hiking, biking and horseback riding. The Cottage Grove Scenic Byway Tour meanders past seven historic covered bridges in the area. The bridges were built in the 1920s and 30s, and some are still in use today. Facilities Schwarz Park offers several single and double-family campsites and six group sites. Flush toilets, drinking water, showers and a dump station are provided. Younger campers love the park's big playground. Natural Features Dorena Lake is situated in the low foothills of the Calapooya Mountains. Step off the beaten path and explore a delightful gem nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains with ties to the historic Bohemia Mining District, 18 miles southeast of Cottage Grove. The site offers a 12-unit campground, day-use picnicking area, and a nearby swimming hole formed naturally among rounded boulders at the base of an overlook extending above Sharps Creek. Cool and delightful waters entice the visitor to swim or simply 'dabble' along the bank while enjoying the surrounding beauty of the forest. For those with a penchant for gold panning, the site offers exciting opportunities to try one's skill and luck! The Springfield Office of the Northwest Oregon District of the Bureau of Land Management manages the Sharps Creek Recreation Site. Recreation Sharps Creek Recreation Site consists of a small, family campground and a day-use area overlooking Sharps Creek. A swimming hole at the base of the overlook provides a refreshing place to cool down on hot, summer days. All swimmers should use caution. Facilities Sharps Creek Campground offers 12 campsites with easy access to the day use swimming area next door. The campground has vault toilets and running water. There is no Cellular Service at the site. Natural Features Sharps Creek campground and the surrounding area are home to large canopy trees such as Douglas fir, western hemlock, red cedar, red alder and big leaf maple. The forest understory features a host of native plants like rhododendron, salal, various fern species, salmonberry and vine maple. On the forest floor, oxalis, Calypso orchids and mosses compliment the scenery. A diverse variety of bird life, from the seldom seen pileated woodpecker, northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet to the ever-present Oregon junco, frequent this area. Signs of larger animals, such as raccoon, mink, bear, elk, deer and beaver are evident. Nearby Attractions The Row River National Recreation Trail / Covered Bridges State Scenic Bikeway is located less than 4 miles northwest of Sharps Creek Recreation Site.
