Overview

Horse Creek Campground is located on the Kaweah River in the foothills of central California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Terminus Dam on Kaweah Lake is three miles east of Lemon Cove, CA.

Recreation

Kaweah Lake offers boating, water skiing and sailing. Horse and walking trails are available during low water. Anglers can fish for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish and rainbow trout.

Facilities

The campground contains 80 sites without hookups. Amenities include flush toilets, showers and a dump station. Weekend programs are held May through September in the campground's amphitheater.

Natural Features

The campground is settled on the river in a broad, arid valley with few trees. Shade is limited.

Nearby Attractions

The Horse Creek campground is 11 miles from Sequoia National Park's southern entrance station. Visitors enjoy viewing the inspiring Giant Forest Grove and mighty General Sherman Tree - the world's largest tree in volume. It is one hour more past the entrance station to reach 5,000' and the mightly Sequoias. 

 Note: Vehicles over 22' will not be allowed up Highway 198 through Sequoia National Park. It is a 1930s, two lane, switch back, road on the side of a mountain. 

 Larger vehicles need to use the northern route on Hwy 180 thorugh Sequoia National Forest to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park. In this area you can view America's Christmas Tree, The General Grant Tree and access the other areas. The Visitor Center is shared with the Forest Service and National Park Service.

Overview ***Grouse Valley is closed for rehabilitation through at least the 2022 and 2023 seasons*** Grouse Valley is located in the Giant Sequoia National Monument within Sequoia National Forest. The facility is a complex of two cabins; the Lakeside Cabin and the Hillside Cabin. The Lakeside Cabin is the largest of the two and can accommodate up to 12 people. The Hillside Cabin accommodate up to 10 people. The property is nestled in an open scenic valley, which contains two lakes surrounded by pine and oak trees and a few small fruit and nut orchards. The serenity and open space provided at Upper Grouse presents visitors with a rare opportunity to enjoy the Sequoia National Forest apart from the traditional campground experience. Recreation Visitors are invited to fish, canoe, and hike around the lakes on the property. All California Department of Fish and Game and U.S. Forest Service regulations apply. There is a barn, hay shed, a pasture adjacent tot he Caretaker's Cabin, and horse corrals for visitors who choose to bring their horses to ride. Facilities The 1,550 square foot Lakeside Cabin is two-story log cabin with an 8-foot covered deck on three sides. The 1,400 square foot Hillside Cabin is also a log cabin with an 8-foot deck on three sides. The cabins include a full kitchen, living and dining areas, full baths (the large house has two full baths) and large areas for bunks/beds. Additional amenities include hot showers, electricity, laundry facilities, and grills. If you plan on using the grill on the porch please bring your own charcoal briquettes. Cabin users should also provide linens, pillows, blankets, towels, toiletries, toilet paper, food and trash bags. Firewood can be purchased from local stores in Springville. Natural Features The Upper Grouse Valley is approximately a fifty minute drive north of Springville, California, at an elevation of around 4,800 feet. Vegetation on the property includes riparian, mixed conifer (ponderosa pine, incense cedar, and white fir), and fruit orchards. The property has a lower and an upper man-made lake. At 4,800 feet elevation, visitors need to be prepared for a variety of weather including warm afternoons, chilly nights and afternoon thunderstorms. It is also not unusual to experience a dusting of snow during the early spring and later fall months. The land surrounding the cabins is open to the public who must walk-in so other visitors may be in the vicinity during your stay.

Overview Potwisha Campground, located along the Generals Highway in Sequoia National Park, offers convenience for visiting the many attractions in the park. The campground is situated along the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, just four miles from the park entrance, in the Sierra Foothills. For more information and trip planning please see our website at www.nps.gov/seki . Recreation There are numerous opportunities for fishing and hiking near the campground. The Marble Falls trailhead is situated adjacent to the campground and several other trails are a short drive away. Access to the Kaweah River is just a short walk across the street from the campground. Facilities Potwisha Campground is open year-round to tents, RVs, and trailers. Reservations are required for all sites year-round. Site #39 and site #40 are suitable for wheelchairs. Picnic tables, fire rings and food storage lockers are provided at each site. Flush toilets, drinking water and an amphitheater are available within the campground. A free dump station, open year-round, is located across the highway from the campground. Natural Features The Foothills consist of the lower elevations of Sequoia National Park, where the grassy valley floor gives way to granite peaks. Oaks, chaparral, and river canyons are plentiful here in an area with more biological diversity than the conifer forests and High Sierra combined. Winters are relatively snow-free and mild; summer is characterized by hot and dry weather. Wildlife is frequently seen in the area, including the American Black Bear, mule deer, and bobcats, as well as numerous bird species. Nearby Attractions Potwisha Campground is located within a 45 minute drive from the Giant Forest, home to the largest trees on Earth. Moro Rock, Crescent Meadow and the Congress Trail are also located in the Giant Forest area, as well as numerous other opportunities for exploration in Sequoia National Park. The Crystal Caves are about an hour's drive (18 miles/29 km) from the campground. Reserve tour tickets in advance on Recreation.gov. Charges & Cancellations Payment in full will be charged to your credit card upon completion of the reservation. A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation. Additional fees will apply for late cancellations. All cancellations made between midnight on the day before arrival and check out time on the day after arrival are considered late cancellations and will incur a $10.00 cancellation fee and will also forfeit the first night’s use fee. Cancellations for a single night’s reservation will forfeit the entire use fee but no cancellation fee will apply.
