Te Waha o Te Kurī / Woodville Ferry Reserve sits beside the Manawatū River at the eastern entrance to the Manawatū Gorge, covering 24 hectares of flat grassland with river access and views of native bush. The reserve welcomes freedom campers in self-contained vehicles, with modern toilet facilities, picnic tables and cooking areas provided. A wetland walk and Te Waha o te Kurī Whare educational kiosk are on-site. Drinking water is available at two locations in nearby Woodville (approximately five minutes' drive via Napier Road), where dump stations can also be found at Normanby Street and Ross Street.
