Te Taita A Makoro Campsite is a basic Department of Conservation site in Te Urewera, situated beside a stream approximately four kilometres north of Lake Waikaremoana on State Highway 38. This free campsite provides toilets and offers around ten non-powered sites on a first-come, first-served basis for both self-contained and non-self-contained camping, with stays limited to three nights. Access is via gravel road that is narrow and winding. Te Urewera is governed by Te Uru Taumatua, Ngāi Tūhoe's operational entity, which manages the area's tracks and facilities.
