Mangawaiiti Campsite is a Department of Conservation boat-in site within Whanganui National Park, accessible only by water along the Whanganui Journey. The remote location is surrounded by native forest including rata, rewarewa, rimu, tawa and kowhai, with opportunities to spot kereru, tui and fantail during the day and listen for brown kiwi at night. Facilities are basic, with toilets provided. The campsite accommodates up to 26 tents and operates with seasonal pricing, with higher fees during the Great Walks season from October to April.
