Hollard Gardens Freedom Camping is located at the Hollard Gardens reserve on Upper Manaia Road near Kaponga in Taranaki. The site offers backcountry-style freedom camping within the grounds of this publicly accessible botanical garden, which features a free gas barbecue, children's playground, toilets, wheelchair-accessible facilities and picnic areas. Dogs are not permitted at the gardens. The reserve is open daily year-round, providing a unique opportunity to stay overnight amongst established plantings originally begun in 1927.
