Dunham‘s Point Reserve

Dunham's Point Reserve is a freedom camping area on the shore of Lake Whakamaru, managed by South Waikato District Council and requiring a permit through their online process. The grassy reserve offers ample space with multiple bays providing privacy options for campers. Modern facilities include flush toilets, showers, and recycling and rubbish bins. The lakeside location provides views across the water to towering cliffs and small rocky islands, with opportunities to observe local wildlife. The reserve serves as a convenient stop along the Waikato River Trail, with approximately 12 kilometres of cycling nearby, and offers access to Lake Whakamaru for water-based activities.
