Blumine Island/Ōruawairua Campsite is a Department of Conservation backcountry site located on a pest-free island in Queen Charlotte Sound, Marlborough, approximately 22 kilometres from Picton. Accessible only by private boat, water taxi or sea kayak with no moorings or jetty provided, this north-facing seafront campsite offers basic facilities including toilets. The island's predator-free status supports thriving native birdlife including kiwi, creating an outstanding dawn chorus. Visitors can walk the one-hour track to historic World War II gun emplacements and enjoy panoramic Sound views. Fires are prohibited, and all gear must be thoroughly checked for stowaways to protect the island's biosecurity status.
