Heaphy Campsite sits within Kahurangi National Park on the renowned Heaphy Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks. Positioned near the mouth of the Heaphy River on the West Coast, this Department of Conservation campsite serves trampers travelling the multi-day route through tussock downs, native forest and coastal nīkau palms. The site provides toilet facilities and requires advance booking year-round, with fees charged per person per night. The location offers shelter close to the scenic river mouth, though the terrain is uneven and sandflies are common. Between May and November, mountain bikers also use the track and campsite.
