Whakaipo is a free conservation campsite in the Taupō area of the Central North Island, accessible via Mapara Road through Acacia Bay. This lakeside site accommodates certified self-contained vehicles only—no tents or non-compliant campervans permitted due to limited facilities. The reserve features a mountain bike track winding through native bush and offers direct access to Lake Taupō's shoreline. Positioned within a farm park setting, the site is reached by a well-maintained pumice road approximately 10 kilometres from Taupō township.
