Possum Lodge is a traditional camping ground on the edge of Lake Manapouri, where the Waiau River meets the lake, surrounded by native beech forest. The site offers powered and tent sites, with drinking water, showers and toilets available. Guests can walk through native bush to the sandy lake shore or stroll along the riverside, and the location provides access to trout fishing in the lower Waiau River. The camping ground is close to Fiordland National Park and serves as a base for exploring the area's natural attractions, with native birdlife creating a dawn chorus through the surrounding forest.
