Pikowai Campground is a beachfront camping ground managed by Whakatāne District Council, situated between Whakatāne and Tauranga on the Bay of Plenty coast. The site offers 32 unpowered sites suitable for caravans and tents, positioned directly on the beach and sheltered from southerly winds by pohutukawa-covered white cliffs. Facilities include two toilet blocks with coin-operated hot showers, treated water supply, and a dump point. There are no kitchen facilities on site, and campers must bring their own coins for showers and remove all rubbish when leaving. Dogs are permitted on leads, and the location provides good access for swimming and beach fishing.
