About this campsite

Overview

Mahogany Cove Campground is located in a grassy meadow along the Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway just 12 miles from Beaver, Utah, at an elevation of 7,200 feet. Visitors enjoy hiking, mountain biking and fishing in the nearby Beaver River.

Recreation

Fishing for rainbow and brook trout is popular on the Beaver River, which is just a short drive below the campground. Hiking, mountain biking and hunting are popular activities in the area.

Facilities

The campground consists of one group site made up of seven individual sites that can accommodate a total of 150 people and 20 vehicles. Reservations are posted at the campground in advance. If the entire site is not reserved, the individual sites can be used on a first-come, first-served basis.


The first site has several picnic tables, a large grill and campfire circle. The other six sites each contain one picnic table, fire ring and grill. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. A large play field is located just inside the entrance.

Natural Features

Stands of mahogany, pinion, juniper and ponderosa pine trees provide partial shade. The campground offers pretty views of the Tushar Range. An overlook just outside the campground has views of Beaver Canyon.

Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway curves past the campground, offering 17 miles of scenic driving through the beautiful Tushar Mountains. Numerous lakes and streams provide fishing, boating and canoeing opportunities.

Overview The Little Reservoir Campground is conveniently located off Utah's I-15, just outside the community of Beaver in the Fishlake National Forest. It sits at an elevation of 7350. This is a great place to enjoy the mountains where recreation opportunities include fishing, hiking and hunting. Recreation Enjoy fishing in the Beaver River nearby or there at the reservoir in the campground. The Piute ATV Trail is nearby; however there is no access directly from the campground. Be prepared to trailer ATV's to the nearby trailheads for access. Facilities The campground has eight single-family campsites, one of which is an accessible unit for reservation. Some campsites are paved. All campsites have picnic tables and grills and accessible vault toilets. Potable water is available during the summer season. No hook-ups are available at the campground. Natural Features Common vegetation includes cottonwood, aspen, pinion, juniper and ponderosa pine trees. A majority of campsites at Little Reservoir are well-shaded. The Fishlake National Forest offers spectacular vistas and opportunities to view wildlife in their natural habitat. Elk, deer, black bear, moose, cougar, and mountain goats are some of the large animals that call the forest home.

LITTLE RESERVOIR CAMPGROUND

Little Reservoir is within sight of the campsites or a short walk. Good hunting, fishing, biking and spectacular mountain scenery is available. Winter activities in the area include ice fishing, snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Bird watching is also very popular. Overstory vegetation consisting mainly of ponderosa pine with pinion, juniper and scrub oak provides shade for about half of the area. There are eight single-family campsites. Sites are back-in sites and will accommodate RV's from 22 to 40 feet. All units have grills and/or fire rings and tables. Drinking water is available at three locations throughout the campground. There are three vault toilets including one that is barrier free. Campsite #4 is handicap accessibile. A paved trail leads to the reservoir for fishing.

Overview Ponderosa Picnic Area is located along the Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway. It is next to the Beaver River, at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Visitors enjoy fishing and relaxing along the river. Recreation The Beaver River offers great rainbow and brook trout fishing. Hiking and biking trails begin a short drive east. Horseshoe pits and a volleyball court are available, but picnickers must bring their own equipment (horseshoes, net and a ball). Facilities The picnic area is a day-use site for large groups, making it a perfect place for family reunions and church outings. Site 1, called East, can accommodate up to 120 people, while site 2, called West, can accommodate up to 80 people. Reservations can be made for either individual sites or the whole area at once. Each site contains tables, grills, campfire circles, electric lights. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. An amphitheater with bench seating is also located on-site. Natural Features Towering ponderosa pines, cottonwoods, aspens and maples provide partial shade in the grassy, gently sloping picnicking site. Between the trees are scenic views of the canyon. Nearby Attractions Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway curves past the picnic area, offering 17 miles of scenic driving through the beautiful Tushar Mountains. Numerous lakes and streams throughout the area provide fishing, boating and canoeing opportunities.

Overview Located within the majestic Tushar Mountain Range, Tushar Lakeside Campground is nestled in a forest of aspen and mixed conifer. This is a popular destination for large youth groups. The lake and small meadow offer ample recreation opportunities to visitors. This campground is managed by Beaver County, Utah. Recreation Recreation opportunities include fishing, hiking, canoeing, sand volleyball and wildlife viewing. Facilities Facilities include three large group sites and several individual sites equipped with tables and fire pits. Water and flush toilets are available inside the campground. Natural Features Situated at 8,560 feet, Tushar Lakeside Campground offers visitors a chance to escape the heat of the summer and enjoy various outdoor experiences. Nearby Attractions Skyline National Recreation Trail for hiking is a short drive away along with the Piute ATV Trail. There is no ATV access from the campground; riders must trailer to the trailhead.

Overview Kents Lake Campground has 28 single family campsites and two multiple family campsites. It is situated in a beautiful forested setting at an elevation of 8,800 feet. The campground is located adjacent to Kents Lake, which is approximately 50 acres in size and suitable for small fishing boats and canoes. Kents Lake is stocked with a variety of trout, all catchable from shore or boat. Recreation Anglers can fish for brown, brook and rainbow trout in Kents Lake from the shore or small non-motorized boat. Trailheads to the Piute ATV trail are close by, but there is no direct access from the campground. Facilities Kents Lake Campground has 28 single family campsites and 2 multiple family campsites. Sites vary from back-in to pull-through sites and will accomodate trailers from 24 to 60 feet long. All units have grills and/or fire rings and picnic tables. Drinking water is available throughout the campground. There are two vault toilets in the campground. There are no hook ups available. The nearest dump station is located in Beaver. Natural Features The Fishlake National Forest in central Utah features majestic stands of aspen encircling open mountain meadows that are lush with a diverse community of forbs and grasses. Elk, deer, black bear, cougar and moose can be found on the Forest, as well as wild turkey and mountain goats. The campground is mainly in an aspen stand with a mix of conifers. The trees provide a range of shade depending on location. Some areas are lighter or heavier shade, depending on site. The majority are well-shaded.
