Lower Mangatawhiri Campground is a backcountry tent site in the Hūnua Ranges Regional Park, accessible only by foot approximately 7 kilometres from the Upper Mangatāwhiri car park. Set in a grass clearing in the valley, the campground provides a toilet and stream water, catering for up to 40 people. As a walk-in site with no vehicle access, campers should be prepared for the backcountry experience and carry all necessary equipment. Bookings are required for all camping in Auckland regional parks. Track conditions can change, so checking with the park operator before departure is advisable to confirm access routes and current facilities.
