Overview

Bucksaw Campground sits on the Grand River Arm of the Harry S. Truman Lake in the hills of western Missouri.

The campground is an excellent destination for all types of water recreation.

Recreation

Popular activities in the area include wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting, swimming, hiking and boating. For an enjoyable short hike, be sure to check out the mile long hiking trail located across the road from the A & B loop's showerhouse. For more information about this trail upon your arrival, please see the booth attendant.



Bucksaw is an excellent fishing location. Anglers find crappie, largemouth bass and blue and flathead catfish. Truman Lake is also a popular destination for tournament fishermen.


Bucksaw Point Marina is also located next to the park.

Facilities

This large campground offers 146 campsites total. 45 sites are 30-amp; 70 sites are 50-amp with water; 14 sites are 50-amp with water and sewage; and 17 sites are primitive. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, laundry facilities and a dump station. A boat ramp, playground and swimming beach offer additional recreational opportunities.

Natural Features

Bucksaw is located on a peninsula with primarily flat terrain and excellent lake views. Campsites are well-shaded, while expansive grassy areas are spread throughout the campground.

Wildlife such as whitetail deer, turkey, hawks, ospreys, eagles, and many different water birds can be found in and around the park.Β 

An abundance of fish such as crappie, bass, walleye, paddlefish, blue and channel catfish can also be found in Harry S Truman Reservoir. Approximately 8,800 acres of standing timber were left in the lake to provide quality aquatic habitat.Β

Overview Berry Bend Campground sits on the shores of Harry S. Truman Lake in the hills of western Missouri. Visitors enjoy fishing, hunting, and boating. Click here for the Harry S. Truman Lake virtual tour. Recreation Berry Bend Area is an excellent fishing location. Truman Lake is also a popular destination for tournament fishermen. Several miles of trails are available for hikers and horses within Berry Bend. The Park Trail is a 2.5 mile trail that is a great hike for beginners and those wanting to explore the area. The West Trail is approximately 10 miles and traverses many steep ridges and valleys, while the East Trail is approximately 16 miles and is somewhat more level and overlooks the lake in several areas. Both the West and the East trails have cut through trails for riders that dont wish to go the entire route. Facilities This large campground offers two loops, B and C Loop with a total of 91 sites. B loop consists of 7 campsites that are very spacious with full hook-ups including 50-amp electricity, water, and sewage. There is a flush restroom in B loop, but no showers. B loop campers needing shower facilities must use the shower house in C Loop. C Loop offers 86 sites. Sites 39-78 are 50-amp with water while the remainder of C loop is 30-amp with dispersed hydrants. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, laundry facilities, and a dump station. A boat ramp and playground offer additional recreation opportunities. Natural Features Harry S Truman Reservoir lies among the rolling hills and rocky bluffs of the Ozark Plateau. Mature hardwoods of Oak and Hickory with cedar trees mixed in cover the area. Wildlife such as whitetail deer, turkey, hawks, ospreys, eagles, and many different water birds can be found in and around the park. An abundance of fish such as crappie, bass, walleye, paddlefish, blue and channel catfish can also be found in Harry S Truman Reservoir. Approximately 8,800 acres of standing timber were left in the lake to provide quality aquatic habitat. Nearby Attractions The 950 miles of shoreline around Truman Lake provide plentiful opportunities for fun in the outdoors. Many parks surround the lake, including Harry S. Truman State Park. The Harry S. Truman Visitor Center sits atop Kaysinger Bluff and provides a spectacular view of the dam and reservoir. Exhibits provide information about the rich history of the Osage River Valley from pre-civilization to modern day. Waterfowl, bald eagles and turkey vultures are commonly seen from the observation deck.

Recreation Sparrowfoot is an excellent fishing location. Truman Lake is also a popular destination for tournament fishermen. Facilities This campground offers 83 sites-- 56 of those have 50-amp and water, and 27 sites are 30-amp. Two day-use group picnic shelters are also available, making the area perfect for large parties or family functions. Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, laundry facilities, playground, a dump station and boat ramp. Natural Features A mosaic of hardwood forests and grasslands covers the area's rolling hills. Rocky bluffs extend into the lake. Wildlife such as whitetail deer, turkey, hawks, ospreys, eagles, and many different water birds can be found in and around the park. An abundance of fish such as crappie, bass, walleye, paddlefish, blue and channel catfish can also be found in Harry S Truman Reservoir. Approximately 8,800 acres of standing timber were left in the lake to provide quality aquatic habitat. Nearby Attractions Katy Trail State Park, the nation's longest rails-to-trails project, is nearby. This unique park stretches from Clinton to Machens, with dozens of trailheads in between. Biking and hiking are allowed on the entire length of the trail, and horses are allowed from Clinton to Sedalia.

Facilities Long Shoal campground offers 44 sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, 38 sites with 30-amp electric hookups, 12 primitive sites, and 1 reservable day-use group shelter. Recreation opportunities in the park include a boat ramp, picnic shelter, playground, swimming beach and marina.
