Big Elbow Backcountry Campground is located in Don Getty Wildland Provincial Park, accessible via an 8.3-kilometre hike from the trailhead in Little Elbow Provincial Recreation Area, approximately 32 kilometres southwest of Bragg Creek on Highway 66. This backcountry site sits along the eastern section of the popular Elbow Loop trail, following the Elbow River with views of surrounding peaks including Threepoint and Cougar Mountains. The campground provides fire pits with supplied firewood, pit toilets, and secure food storage containers. Note that Highway 66 is closed from December through May, restricting seasonal access to the trailhead.
