About this campsite

Bare Loon Lake campground offers 19 platforms for hikers on BC's Chilkoot Trail, managed by Parks Canada with bear boxes, shelter, and lake access.

Bare Loon Lake is a Parks Canada campsite located in British Columbia along the historic Chilkoot Trail near the BC-Alaska border. The site features 19 camping platforms positioned on a hillside beside Bare Loon Lake at approximately 750 metres elevation. Facilities include a covered warming shelter, bear-proof food storage boxes, and pit toilets. Water is accessible from the lake. Situated about 6.4 kilometres from the northern trailhead, this hike-in only campground serves backpackers traversing the Chilkoot Trail corridor, a route significant to the Klondike Gold Rush era. Given its popularity and limited capacity, advance reservations are recommended during peak hiking season.
