Overview
Murrell Park offers day use facilities, boat ramp access and primitive camping on scenic Grapevine Lake, in the middle of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in Texas.The lake has become a premier recreation destination for the Southwest and offers some of the best camping, fishing and boating in Texas.
This facility is open year-round, but particularly in hot summer months, the cool water provides a refreshing break from the Texas heat.
Recreation
Murrell Park is popular for picnicking, hiking, mountain biking, boating and fishing. The park is home to the well known Northshore Trail, which welcomes hikers and mountain bikers.
Horses and moterized bikes including E-Bikes are not permitted on the Northshore Trail. Horses not permited in Murrell Park; however, there are horse trails available on the south side and west end of the lake.
Hunting is not allowed in the park, but is available in some of the surrounding public lands. Anglers can fish along the shoreline or from the water; popular species include black and white crappie, catfish and bass.
Facilities
This facility offers 11 tent-only campsites along the lakeshore with views of the water. These sites do not have electrical or water hook ups. All campsites have campfire rings and grills, picnic tables with shelters. Vault toilets are provided; shower and flush toilet facilities are not available. a community water spigot is available from spring through fall and are shut off some of the winter months. It is recommended that campers provide their own water. The park contains a boat ramp.
Natural Features
Grapevine is an 7,280 acre recreational lake with 60 miles of rolling shoreline. The area offers a wide variety of wildlife to observe, including white-tailed deer, turkey, squirrel, armadillo, rabbit and numerous birds species.Nearby Attractions
The nearby city of Grapevine offers many historical attractions as one of the oldest settlements in the county, dating back to 1844, a year before Texas became a part of the United States.Charges & Cancellations

Hickory Creek (TX)
Overview Hickory Creek sits on the extremely popular Lewisville Lake near Dallas, Texas. The almost 30,000-acre reservoir attracts a fair amount of visitors in summer months with warm water temperatures and excellent fishing opportunities. Recreation Visitors at Lewisville Lake enjoy picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing and relaxing. Photographers will stay entertained with wildlife and colorful sunsets, while hikers and bikers like to explore the 50 miles of natural surface and paved trails surrounding the lake. Facilities The large campground boasts 121 sites with electric hookups. Tent primitive walk-in sites are not available at this time. Park amenities include hot showers, a dump station, and boat ramp. Natural Features The lake stems from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in northern Texas, and offers little visibility, but plenty of room for boating and watercraft. The park sits on the Hickory Creek Arm of Lewisville Lake, very near to the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. Nearby Attractions Several public golf courses are located around the lake, and horseback riding opportunities are available, too. Hickory Creek is just 35 miles away from downtown Dallas.

WESTLAKE DAY USE
Overview Westlake features four group shelters on Lewisville Lake, where visitors can spend a day picnicking or boating on the almost 30,000-acre reservoir, just outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The lake rests above an archeological site where prehistoric remains have been found. It is believed these early humans inhabited the area as far back as 12,000 B.C., making this one of the oldest human-inhabited sites in the Southwest United States and Mexico. Recreation The lake hosts a number of fishing tournaments each year, drawing anglers from all over to try for trophy-sized bass. Warm water temperatures offer ideal conditions for water sports including boating and jet skiing. Facilities Each of the open-sided pavilions come with a large grill and water, and are all within walking distance to a restroom. Blackjack Oak is lakeside with large shade trees. This pavilion seats 50-75 people and has electric hookups.(CLOSED) Bur Oak seats 100-150 people and has its own parking lot. Cottonwood is close to the shoreline, has electric hookups and seats 100-150 people. Green Ash sits in a large, open field and offers electric hookups. It seats 75-100 people. Natural Features The day-use area sits on the western banks of Lewisville Lake. The lake stems from the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in northern Texas and generally has low visibility, but plenty of surface acres for boating and fishing. Nearby Attractions Horseback riding and golfing can be found nearby. The active city of Dallas is about 40 minutes away.
