Lake Heron Camp sits beside Lake Heron (Ōtūroto) in inland Canterbury's Ashburton District, part of the high-country Ashburton Lakes area. The camping ground operates seasonally from 1 October to 30 April. The site is managed by the Department of Conservation within the Lake Heron Nature Reserve and Wildlife Refuge. Walking and tramping are restricted to roads and the lake edge unless permission is obtained from the adjoining Mt Arrowsmith Station. Dogs and fires are prohibited.
