Kaitoke Regional Park Campground, managed by Greater Wellington Regional Council in the Hutt Valley, offers tent sites and caravan spots on river flats beside the Pākuratahi River. The park is open year-round with no booking required, allowing campers to choose their pitch within designated camping areas. Facilities include toilets, drinking water, free barbecues and rubbish bins. Campfires are permitted on the river bed in specified areas. The park provides access to walking tracks, swimming holes and native bush, approximately thirty minutes from Wellington city. The campground gets particularly busy during Christmas-New Year, Wellington Anniversary weekend and Waitangi Weekend.
