Canyon Campground in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park sits 50 kilometres south of Highway 1 on Highway 40, positioned just north of the Pocaterra Hydroelectric Dam on Lower Kananaskis Lake. The campground offers 50 unserviced sites accommodating both recreational vehicles and tents, with larger sites on open grass and smaller sites among the trees. Gravel pads provide level ground for camping. The location provides access to hiking and mountain biking trails, plus paved cycling paths. Operating seasonally from early June through mid-September, the campground sits at an elevation of 1,639 metres. A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required for vehicle parking.
