About this campsite

Overview

Azalea campground is centrally located in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. This campground is at an elevation of 6,500 feet. Late spring, summer and early fall the campground is on reservations. When it is not on reservations sites are first come first served and paid for by using the rec.gov scan and pay app. Find out more here. 

Recreation

There are numerous recreation opportunities in the immediate area. From your campsite, you can hike to a Sequoia Grove that includes the General Grant Tree, the Nation's Christmas Tree and only living memorial to our military veterans. Hike to the beautiful Ella Falls, a 50 foot waterfall or to Panoramic Point for a breathtaking view of the high Sierras.

Their are 110 sites at Azalea campground. Each site contains a picnic table, a fire ring, and a food storage box. Flush toilets and potable water are available at the campground. Each site can accommodate 1-6 people. Azalea campground is located nearby Grant Grove Village where you will find the Kings Canyon Visitor Center, a restaurant, gift store, Post Office and market.

Azalea campground is located in a mixed conifer forest of sugar pines, incense cedar, fir and sequoia trees. Summer days can be warm and dry with cool nights. Wildlife is abundant and includes black bear, mule deer, gray squirrel, golden-mantled ground squirrel, and a variety of resident birds, among many others. The dynamic landscape of the park evolves from geologic processes working over millennia to sculpt granite, marble and other forms of rock. Here in the parks are canyons carved by rivers and glaciers, towering rugged peaks and miles of underground caverns. Found throughout the park are thousands of lakes and ponds and miles of rivers and streams.

This mid-sized group campground is at an elevation of 6,500 feet. In addition to the 14 mid-sized group sites, there are 35 standard size campsite available for reservation on the Crystal Springs Campground page. Recreation There are numerous recreation opportunities in the immediate area. From your campsite, you can hike to a Sequoia Grove that includes the General Grant Tree, the Nation's Christmas Tree and only living memorial to our military veterans. Hike to the beautiful Ella Falls, a 50 foot waterfall or to Panoramic Point for a breathtaking view of the high Sierras. Facilities Mid-size group sites are for tents only with paved and graveled parking areas. The 14 mid-sized group sites include 3 picnic tables, a fire ring, and 2 bear boxes. Overview Sunset campground is centrally located in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in central California's rugged Sierra Nevada range. This campground is at an elevation of 6,500 feet. A number of hiking trails begin within walking distance of the campground including the one mile trail to the General Grant Tree. Recreation There are numerous recreation opportunities in the immediate area. From your campsite, you can hike to a sequoia grove that includes the General Grant Tree, the Nation's Christmas Tree and only living memorial to our military veterans. Hike to the beautiful Ella Falls, a 50 foot waterfall or to Panoramic Point for a breathtaking view of the high Sierras. Facilities Group sites A & B are for tents only and have paved parking areas. No recreational vehicles allowed. The two group sites include 6 picnic tables, fire rings and 6 bear boxes. Flush toilets and potable water are available in the campground. Each group site can accommodate 15-30 people. Vehicles are not allowed to drive in to sites for unloading ice chests or supplies. Overview Located in the Giant Sequoia National Monument at 4,800 feet in elevation, this facility is nestled among Ponderosa pine, Cedar,Giant sequoia and other conifers. This campground is part of the Hume Lake Ranger District in Sequoia National Forest. It is located approximately 80 miles northeast of Fresno, CA, and near Kings Canyon National Park Recreation Opportunities abound in this beautiful forest setting for hiking, biking and off-road exploring outside of the wilderness area. Trails lead into the Redwood Mountain/Whitaker forest grove of Giant Sequoias. Facilities Eshom Campground is a developed facility with 23 multi-family sites. The campground has two sections, east and west. Vault toilets are provided. The west section is comprised of two loops, while the east section has a spur ending in a loop. In the west section, campsites 2 through 5 are best suited for slide-ins and tents; potable water spigots are available throughout the loops. Access to Eshom Creek can be found off the west section, where an old road is open to foot traffic only and leads to the creek. The east section is more rustic. Sites have irregular and informal parking aprons, stone fire rings and no grills. The facility amenities are favorable for a family destination. Natural Features Eshom is neslted deep in the heart of the Sierra foothills. This area is accessed via a winding road in a rural region of the Sierra foothills. The Sierra Nevada Mountains support populations of black bears, mule deer, and a variety of squirrels and other small mammals. Many bird species can also be seen. Overview Ten Mile Campground is a primitive campground located 5 miles from Hume Lake on Tenmile Road. A stream runs through the campground. Nearby Hume Lake is one of Sequoia National Forest's most visited destinations. The area offers year-round recreational opportunities, including fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Recreation Nearby Hume Lake is a year-round recreation destination. During warmer months, visitors can enjoy fishing, non-motorized boating, hiking and mountain biking. During the winter, the area is popular for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling. Sequoia National Forest is located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada in central California and named for the giant sequoia, the world's largest tree, which grows in more than 30 groves on the forest's lower slopes. The forest comprises about 1.1 million acres. Elevations range from about 1,000 to 12,000 feet, creating precipitous canyons and mountain streams with spectacular waterfalls such as Grizzly Falls.
