Okahu Road campsite in Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park provides free camping on grassy terraces beside Okahu Stream. Managed by the Department of Conservation, the site accommodates caravans and tents, with direct vehicle access via Okahu Road off Ruatahuna Road from Murupara. Campers can enjoy picnicking and forest walks in the surrounding podocarp forest. Campfires are permitted in designated places when no fire ban is in effect. Two camping areas exist along Okahu Road – this mid-road site, formerly Grader Camp, and a smaller road-end location approximately seven kilometres apart, both offering basic facilities in a tranquil bush setting.
