Motuora Island campsite sits on a pest-free island sanctuary in the Auckland region, accessible only by private boat, water taxi or kayak from Sandspit Wharf near Warkworth. The conservation reserve protects native flora and fauna, including North Island brown kiwi which visitors may hear or see at night. Walking tracks traverse the island, passing Māori historic sites and early European settlement areas, while beaches and clear waters offer swimming and picnicking opportunities. The campground accommodates up to 75 people, with individual sites holding six people. Bookings are essential and managed by the Department of Conservation through their online system.
