Overview
Dewayne Hayes Campground is located on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, on Columbus Lake in Mississippi.The campground provides convenient access to the waterway. There is ample opportunity for visitors to fish, boat or spend the day sightseeing along the banks of the river.
The recreation area was named in 1986 for Pfc. Loyd DeWayne Hayes, a member of the 145th Engineering Battalion of the Alabama National Guard.
Recreation
With playgrounds, hiking trails, multi-use courts, picnic areas and educational programs, families have no shortage of activities to choose from at DeWayne Hayes.Anglers can fish from the shore in search of bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and sunfish.
Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species along the Tenn-Tom lands.
Facilities
Dewayne Hayes Campground features 110 campsites, including 100 standard sites with electric and water hookups and 10 tent-only primitive walk-in sites.
The campground is partially shaded, and sites have picnic tables, fire rings with grills, pedestal grills and lantern posts.
Visitors have the convenience of hot showers, and anglers can make use of the fish cleaning station.
Natural Features
The Tenn-Tom, as the waterway is known, extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama. The man-made waterway connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico.Nearby Attractions

DeWayne Hayes Day Use (Columbus Lake)
Overview DeWayne Hayes Day Use is situated near DeWayne Hayes Campground on Columbus Lake along the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway. The area features two shelter that can be rented. The area typically is open the beginning of May through the end of November. DeWayne Hayes Day Use is great for family gatherings and fishing off the bank. Recreation The Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway offers many recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, boating, and swimming. Hunting opportunities can be found on Corps of Engineers land in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as other state managed wildlife management areas along the waterway. Fishing the many varieties of fish on the waterway is a yearlong event, with people fishing along the shoreline or joining in on the many tournaments that are held on the waterway throughout the year. Boating is a popular activity on the waterway and many people enjoy waterskiing, swimming, and other water related activities. Swimming can be enjoyed from your boat or at a designated beach along the waterway. Facilities Each shelter provides water, electricity, and picnic tables for your use (except the two shelters at Waverly Day Use do not have electricity). A park host is available at most of the shelters where they can provide additional information if need be. Natural Features DeWayne Hayes Day Use runs along a part of the old riverbed on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway where great shoreline fishing can be done. A trail takes you through the day use where you can find oak, sweet gum, pine, and other species of trees along the way. Bald Eagles, Pelicans, and migratory birds can be seen flying over the area.

TOWN CREEK CAMPGROUND - WEST POINT - MS
Overview Town Creek Campground is located on the beautiful Columbus Lake in the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The campground has direct access to the waterway for recreational boating activities and is a great place to relax and view the scenery. Recreation With Columbus Lake and Kennedy Lake to explore, this facility has ample water recreation opportunities. Anglers can try their luck on the fishing dock or head off-shore in search of bass, catfish and crappie. Families with children can play on the facility's three playgrounds and go hiking, biking or birding. The nature trail circling the Kennedy Lake crosses the water in a number of places by way of wooden footbridges. Facilities Town Creek offers 100 sites with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, fire rings with grills and lantern posts along the banks of the waterway. Campers have the convenience of hot showers. The campground also offers 10 primitive, tent-only sites along the Kennedy Lake shore. Natural Features The thickly forested, sloping shoreline and calm water create a peaceful atmosphere. On top of the hill overlooking the Tombigbee is Kennedy Lake; on the back of the lake, water cascades down a stone waterfall and into a creek that meanders through the park. The Tenn-Tom, as the waterway is known, extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama. The man-made waterway connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico. Nearby Attractions Town Creek Campground is just minutes from the cities of Columbus and West Point, Mississippi, which offer a variety of conveniences such as shopping, restaurants and golf courses.

Overview Waverly Day Use is situated in Columbus, Mississippi on Columbus Lake along the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway. The area features two shelters that can be rented. The area typically is open the beginning of March through the end of October. Waverly Day Use is great for family gatherings and birthdays. Recreation The Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway offers many recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, boating, and swimming. Hunting opportunities can be found on Corps of Engineers land in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as other state managed wildlife management areas along the waterway. Fishing the many varieties of fish on the waterway is a yearlong event, with people fishing along the shoreline or joining in on the many tournaments that are held on the waterway throughout the year. A walking trail takes you along the shoreline of the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway where you can look out over the water and can see fish jumping or a possible otter.

Overview Stennis East Bank Day Use is situated in Columbus, Mississippi on Columbus Lake along the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway. The area features one shelter at the boat ramp location and three shelters inside the park that can be rented. The area typically is open every day of the year. Stennis East Bank Day Use is wonderful for family gatherings, enjoying the lock and dam, and hanging out with friends. Recreation The Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway offers many recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, boating, and swimming. Hunting opportunities can be found on Corps of Engineers land in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as other state managed wildlife management areas along the waterway. Fishing the many varieties of fish on the waterway is a yearlong event, with people fishing along the shoreline or joining in on the many tournaments that are held on the waterway throughout the year. Natural Features Blue Bluff Recreation area is named for the beautiful clay and limestone cliffs that border the area. The bluff rises 80 feet above the water and provides a lofty view of Aberdeen Lake and the nearby lock and dam. The surrounding woods offers a trail to walk on where you can overlook the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and along the way see deer, many varieties of birds, and squirrels.
