Almadale Recreation Reserve

Almadale Recreation Reserve is a backcountry camping area in the Manawatū foothills near Halcombe, approximately 30 minutes northwest of Palmerston North. The council-managed reserve sits beside a river and offers free camping for up to five nights within any 30-day period. Facilities include two long-drop toilets on level grassed sites suitable for various vehicles. Short walking tracks wind through regenerating native bush, with a walking bridge providing scenic access. The reserve provides a quieter alternative to larger parks in the area, with picnic spots and bush remnants characteristic of the foothill country between the Manawatū plains and inland hills.
